Nurture
Coaching workgroup for parents of differently-Wired Kids
It feels hard because it is hard. Parenting is challenging enough, and when we add in the unique joys and challenges of raising a differently-wired child, it can sometimes feel overwhelming. None of us is not alone. Join Nurture to learn, work, and grow together.
This 4-week coaching group pulls together the best elements of a class, workshop, and coaching group. Nurture creates a dynamic and supportive environment for parents of neurodiverse children to learn, apply, and integrate strategies that nurture both themselves and their kids so everyone can thrive.

Program Elements
learning modules
Weekly asynchronous lessons employ a variety of formats to introduce key concepts. These allow each member to make time for learning at their own pace and on their own schedule.
workshop weeks
Workshops take place every other week and provide guided implementation of ideas and tools presented in the lessons. Members will work through the process of building individual systems together.
Coaching sessions
Group coaching encourages reflection, insight, and integration, all critical elements in cementing change and growth. The group environment serves to normalize our experiences and inspire even greater self-awareness.
Weekly Reviews & Discussion board
Self-guided weekly reviews establish a potential long-term habit that helps members recognize and celebrate progress while refining their strategies, and the discussion board provides both support and accountability.

✺ Frequently asked questions ✺
-
The program runs eight weeks, and participants should expect to commit 1-2 hours per week in asynchronous time and 1 hour per week to the group meetings.
The specific meeting times for the group will be based on mutual availability and set before the group begins. Sometimes with varying schedules, it can be difficult to find a great time for everyone, but we will do our best. I also keep group sizes limited, which helps with this issue. If the group agrees, I am happy to record missed workshops for members who cannot attend, but I typically do not share recorded coaching sessions.
-
Group size is limited to no more than six to eight participants, and I’m happy to run groups as small as three. We need enough people to make a group, but not so many as to make logistics and participation difficult.
As for participating, I am very aware that I am running a group that will likely involve neurodiverse participants, myself included. I realize that not everyone likes to participate at all, and not everyone likes to participate all the time. I don’t require participation, but the experience will be much more effective if you choose to do so. At the beginning, we will set group expectations (like respect for the speaker, confidentiality, etc.) to establish a safe environment for all members, which hopefully helps everyone to be more comfortable. If you really do have difficulty sharing in a group environment, I’d recommend individual coaching instead.
-
Although there are typical topics that are likely to be covered, like collaborative communication or supporting regulation, the specific topics will be chosen by the group. As the group forms, each member fills out a survey. I take those responses and pull the common threads together into a curriculum specific to that group.
-
Lessons consist of a variety of materials including potentially podcasts, articles, and visuals that I’ve created along with links to other materials from online sources that support the learning for that lesson. The variation of formats is intended to help everyone stay engaged and to break the learning up into smaller chunks if that’s easier. Members can do a little bit each day, or sit down over an hour and knock out the whole week. Additionally, depending on the specific topics and needs of the group, I may also provide worksheets and other supports for application.
-
Workshop weeks are meant to be our hands-on working time. What exactly this looks like will be determined by the group needs and the material we are covering for that week. It could range from working through the steps of building a plan of action to physically reorganizing aspects of our environment, but the point is to do it together and work out the kinks as we go.
Coaching weeks are discussion based. We’ll always start with a general topic based on what we’re working on, and then we’ll explore what the group wants to focus on. Coaching groups typically have amazing discussions that generate significant insight for participants. Plus, this process of reflecting and exploring helps take the learning and working that we’re already doing and integrate it for the long term.

For any type of personal growth, a weekly review is one of the best practices you can establish to support long-term change, which is why I include it in the program. The weekly review, for the purposes of this group, is a guided process of routinely checking in—both with yourself and your family. How has your week has gone, what’s working well and what challenges have you had, and what plans do you have for the upcoming week. You can complete it whenever it is convenient for you, preferably at around the same time each week. I provide both different practical options to help you find what best fits your needs. There will be materials to walk you through your weekly review, though in time, you may prefer to shift into your own process.

This four week foundations group covers the basics of building a family system that supports all of its members in all their uniquely-wired glory. After this group, you can continue on to individual coaching if you need more direct support. Or you can watch for and participate in upcoming special interest groups. These will build on the ideas and skills developed in this first group, but around specific areas of interest—anything from navigating the transitions that can be extra-tricky with differently-wired kids like summer break or back to school to topics like demand avoidance. If you are interested in a future group focus, please let me know so I can work on pulling together these groups.

The short answer is that sometimes that happens and I totally understand. I’m happy to provide a prorated refund for whatever portion you do not attend.
However, this group belongs to the group. The group determines everything from meeting times to topics covered and what happens when the group finishes. When group members come in committed and stay for the length of the journey, the group functions much more effectively and therefore better supports the growth of all the individual members. So, no one expects you to predict the future, and everyone understands if something happens that requires you to leave the group. But please consider before joining if you feel that you are likely to be able to complete the eight weeks at this time.
Generally, groups go pretty well most of the time, but if you find at any point that you are having difficulty with the group itself, please let me know so that it can be addressed. This group is meant to support you and not to create stress in your life, so please let me help if you run into any difficulty—before deciding to leave the group.
